Main and check zone concept is different from LBB. We use zone system in busbar differential. Whereas, LBB operates when corresponding breaker fails to trip under feeder fault/bay fault condition. LBB will extend to trip concerned busbar of that breaker(two main and transfer scheme) and other end of the line(i. e., opposite end station).

But the oil is cooled by either air, or cold water system. So I am advising you to inspect cold water system or air system. Because this shows that the system that cools oil is not working properly.

– yes, in an oil company, usually they only use 2 PT input and make it as delta connection in the relay
– That’s an open delta voltage transformer (or potential transformer)
– It’s mainly used as an input to detect earth faults using neutral voltage displacement.
– Typically the sum of the voltage across D7 and D9 is zero ….however should there be an earth fault and one of the phases hit the ground … you will get voltage across the open point
– Such schemes are used in ungrounded systems or on generator – transformer sets …. there is no path for earth fault
– Sorry open wye … but the scheme is the same …
– Open delta connection, Yellow phase normally will ground.

But as per the drawing seen some conflict.

Micom rebooting issue may be from the HMI problem/relay power card problem but if it comes even after replacing HMI look forward with manufacturers. It’s not just like pc booting issues. There is no chance of error in relay or bugs like a microprocessor.

– I have a problem with Micom P443 for Distance Protection. I have a problem with System Checks for Autoreclose, anyone can tell me what is the difference between CS1 Close Enable dan C/S AR Immediate?
– Cs1 close enable is the setting of sync check on which you want to recloser the circuit breaker like on Live Line Live Bus or Live bus Dead Line or Dead Bus.
– If you enable c/s AR immediate then it means that if during the dead time system check conditions are met then it will reclose the breaker without waiting for the remaining dead time period,
– Like for example if dead time is 1 sec
– And system check conditions are met during 0.6 seconds of dead time, then the relay will give reclose command without waiting for the remaining 0.4seconds of dead time. But you have disables the system check conditions on shot1 which means it will reclose the breaker without looking into any system check conditions,
– Sys check on shot 1 should be enabled too.

– It depends on the loading. The higher its loading, the more power needed to turn the output torque. If you don’t have a load, just make sure your lower frequency setting has a minimal current to move the rotor..otherwise, it will overheat.

– You need to remove the particular phase’s trip input to the single-phase trip relay and then try a reclosing function test.
– If it works, you are going to find out which relay keeps issuing the trip positive to the 1 phase trip relay.
– If you reclose the CB from the AR function of the relay, the CB close and remains. If there is an output that is high it should not stay
– That’s the logic.
– The problem happens only when I trip the CB from Close to open and back to close?
– You can check also a timer on CB for pole discrepancy.. sometimes you need to delay more for reclosing test.
– That s a basic check. make sure that the dead time is not more than the reclaim time & PD time. Even though as per your description it’s not what trips the CB on reclosing.
– Adjust timer on CB after that reclose successfully signal to come.
– If it’s a new CB, after conducting the CB closing timing test, set the deadtime above the closing time of CB too.

– You said that it’s again tripping on the Trip relay. Check the Auxiliary contact 52A of the circuit breaker which is in series with the trip coil. This contact can malfunction. This contact is meant to break the DC circuit of the Trip relay

– We use a 125V DC system for our substations. The string consists of 93 NiCad cells. The charger is SENS. The only settings available on the charger are FLOAT, set at 1.37VpC 122V, and EQUALIZE, set at 1.57Vpc 138V. These values appear to be assuming the string consists of 88 cells.

– Try to inject 5kv. From my experience, If you got the same value you can charge the cable.
– 60 megaohm is acceptable if I injected 5kv.
– If is it possible to keep the cable in sunlight, then conduct IR you can get better value.
– I had charged the 11kv bus when I got cable IR around 10 M ohm.
– Clean the cable jointing kit perfectly, then means if you find any carbon in cable termination. IR value can also improve by doing this.

Why, because line settings are mainly calculated from the line impedance only not on short circuit data & similarly for transformer relay setting also from Transformer MVA & Tap setting are mostly needed.

ETAP has been designed and developed for engineers to study different aspects of power systems in one integrated package.

This course is structured into 4 chapters, with theory and practical examples. It is designed for protection engineers to understand the power system, short circuit concept, protection, and coordination.

Chapter 1- part 01: This part overviews different tools in ETAP with an example. ETAP offers a suite of fully integrated electrical engineering software solutions including load flow, short circuit, protection and coordination, harmonic analysis, transient stability, cable ampacity, arc flash, optimal power flow, and more. Some of these tools may not be required in our study. So we should know which part is the most important tool for us. This part overviews different parts of ETAP before starting the course. In this way, we can find the main tools and parts which we should focus on.

Chapter 1-part 02: This part has an introduction to ETAP software. We start with creating a new project and explain different toolbars and menus in ETAP.

Chapter 1-part 03: This part overviews the main parameters of a busbar, 2 winding transformers, and 3 winding transformers.

Chapter 1-part 04: This part overviews the main parameters of a transmission line and cable.

Chapter 1-part 05: This part overviews the main parameters of a static load, lumped load, and power grind.

Chapter 2-Part 01: This part shows how to study parameters with load flow analysis. To do so, we run a load flow analysis on a simple one-line diagram and study the effect of different parameters.

Chapter 2-Part 02: This part overviews load flow study case and plot option settings.

Chapter 2-Part 03: This part presents a practice to understand the parameters of load, equipment cable, busbar, cable, and transformer deeply. Then it presents load flow and load analyzer tools.

Chapter 2-part 04: This part overviews the main parameters of low voltage circuit breaker and high voltage circuit breaker.

Chapter 2-part 05: This part overviews the main parameters of an induction machine and how to model an induction machine in three different methods.

Chapter 2-part 06: This part overviews the main parameters of a synchronous generator.

Chapter 2-Part 07: This part presents a practice to understand the parameters of an induction machine and a synchronous generator deeply.

Chapter 2-Part 08: This part presents how to remove the critical alarm. To do so CB overload, cable overload, and transformer overload alerts have been removed. To remove these alerts, we should know how to do cable sizing and transformer sizing in ETAP.

Chapter 3-Part 01: This part shows the effect of different parameters in the short circuit current. An induction motor can inject current to a grid even more than an equivalent generator, this part show this concept in ETAP.

Chapter 3-Part 02: This part explains the settings in the short circuit analysis. To explain the parameters of short circuit analysis and understand the short circuit modeling in ETAP, we have simulated an AG fault in PSCAD.

Chapter 3-Part 03: This part presents several duties and tools in short circuit analysis mode.

Chapter 4-Part 01: This part overviews the elements which are related to relay protection and coordination.

Chapter 4-Part 02: This part shows overcurrent parameters in ETAP and relay configurations software. The setting of overcurrent relays (P121 and distance relay SEL 421) are shown in the configuration software (Esergy studio and AcSELerator quick set software).

Chapter 4-Part 03: In this part, three-phase voltage and currents are injected into the SEL 421 with a secondary test kit (Omicron CMC 256) to explain the values in a relay and test the intravenous overcurrent function.

Chapter 4-Part 04: This part presents how to CT ratio and time delay overcurrent element (Ansi 51). Then the coordination between two relays is explained with the help of start view tools.

Chapter 4-Part 05: This part presents the coordination between three relays and how to test the coordination with the help of the sequence viewer tool.

Chapter 4-Part 06: This part explains the plot option parameters in the Star View.

Chapter 4-Part 07: This part explains how to set instantaneous overcurrent parameters (ANSI 50).

Chapter 4-Part 08: This part presents how to calculate overture ground elements in ETAP and how to set these parameters in the relay.

Chapter 4-Part 09: This part presents how to add a proper fuse to a feeder and coordinate the relays with the fuse.

Chapter 4-Part 10: This part explains the protection page of the main elements and how to protect an element with an overcurrent element.

Chapter 4-Part 11: This part presents helpful tools in the protection and coordination study room.
